Living with Black Girl Magic, HIV, and chronic optimism, Kamaria Laffrey serves nationally as a speaker, an advocate, and Co-Executive Director for HIV policy decriminalization with The SERO Project. Her grassroots efforts have extended to local advocacy throughout the state of FL, including her active participation on the West Central FL Ryan White Care Council. Additionally, she leads the FL HIV Justice Coalition, fighting outdated laws criminalizing HIV status.  In these roles, Kamaria believes that when she represents PLHIV, she is lifting Black women living with HIV so that when their presence is visible, their power is not denied. Since her diagnosis in 2003, she has empowered others through her community-based social media hub, emPOWERed Legacies. As a recipient of the 2025 Marco Castro-Bojorquez Positive Leadership Award from The U.S. PLHIV Caucus and a 2018 inaugural graduate of Positive Women’s Network - USA’s Policy Fellowship Program, Kamaria advocates for gender, sexual health, and racial justice. Her story has been featured in publications such as Women’s Health, POZ, Positively Aware, and various health blogs, where she shares her healing journey and triumphs over stigma. Kamaria seeks to be a willing vessel of faith that guides individuals in her community toward embracing healing, giving inspiration, and living victoriously with HIV.
